Manama, Bahrain – January 21, 2020: As part of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation’s (MKF) efforts to motivate students to achieve excellence in both academic and professional performance, the Foundation provided the winning students of “Al Raya Award” with the opportunity to visit Masdar City and participate in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which took place between the 11th and 16th of January 2020.
The “Al Raya Award” is a unique initiative dedicated to the Foundation’s distinguished and committed students who showed utmost compliance with its rules and regulations, which aims to encourage them and appreciate their efforts. The winners of the award consisted of two students of the Rayat program, Mohammed Yusuf and Rufaida Al Mahmood, and two students from the Ithra program, Malak Al Qudah and Dalal Al Balooshi. The winning students of the first edition of the award were announced during the national day celebration held by the Foundation last month.
Masdar City is one of the most sustainable cities that adopts a smart and efficient urban approach which also aims to create meaningful business opportunities. The winners of the “Al Raya Award” got the opportunity to attend a number of sessions and workshops at Sustainability Week in Abu Dhabi, a global meeting point for advancing the world’s sustainable development, which also included the World Future Energy Summit, Youth 4 Sustainability Hub, in addition to the Festival at Masdar City.
The aim of the visit was to introduce students to the latest social, economic and environmental trends in the world, and encourage them to develop distinct sustainability solutions to address the problems they face in their daily lives.
Commenting on the initiative, Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation, said: “We are proud to provide opportunities that will refine the skills of the students at AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation and enable them to learn about the outstanding regional experiences, as well as inspire them to accomplish more, including elevating the Kingdom’s position across all sectors.”
