Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa Appointed as Honorary President of the Friendship Society for the Blind

Manama, Bahrain – 20 November 2022: Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation and Founder of the Board of Directors of MKF E-Services, has been appointed the position of honorary presidency of the Friendship Society for the Blind. This step comes in appreciation of her continuous support for the society’s activities and contribution towards achieving its goals over the years.

 

“Firstly, I would like to thank the members of the Board of Directors of the Friendship Society for the Blind and all its employees for their tireless efforts to integrate this category into society by organizing charitable activities and events aimed primarily at highlighting the capabilities of the blind. We, in turn, look forward to supporting more volunteer initiatives in various fields, which will help advance humanitarian work in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” commented Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation and Founder of the Board of Directors of MKF E-Services.

 

Mr. Hussain Haider Al Hulaibi, President of the Friendship Society for the Blind, congratulated Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa for assuming the position honorary presidency of the Society, and commented: “We are very proud of this honorary appointment, as this step crowns a long procession of giving in the field humanitarian and volunteer work. Her Highness sponsored the first Gulf camp for blind women in 2017 and has continued to support our initiatives and goals since then.”

 

The Friendship Society for the Blind was established in 1981, and consists of the following committees: cultural, social, art, sports, women and employment. In 1991, a kindergarten for blind children was established under the umbrella of the society, with the aim of training the mental abilities and developing the senses of the blind child. This training is also aimed at providing them with the skills to identify their surrounding environment, whilst preparing them to be self-reliant and to ensure independent mobility, which helps integrate this category into regular schools in the future.
