Manama, November 27 2017: AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation received a high-level delegation from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin, and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) on Thursday November 23, 2017, to discuss means of cooperation between both institutions in relation to the medical scholarship scheme.
The meeting was attended by Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation along with Professor John Hyland – President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Professor Cathal Kelly – Chief Executive Officer and Registrar at RCSI in Dublin, Professor Hannah McGee – Dean of RCSI in Dublin, Ms. Aine Gibbons, Head of Philanthropy at RCSI in Dublin, Professor Sameer Atoom, President of RCSI Bahrain, along with Mr. Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, Chief Operating Officer, RCSI Bahrain and members of the Board of Trustees and employees of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation.
“Our meeting with the delegation of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland aimed to explore ways of joint cooperation as well as to familiarize them with the activities of the Foundation. We are looking forward to further cooperation in the future. Also a medical grant has been awarded this year under the name of “HRH Sheika Moza bint Hamad Scholarship in Medicine”, in collaboration with RCSI Bahrain which covers all tuition fees as well as other benefits pertaining to the Rayaat program,” said Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation.
The Rayaat Scholarship Program was launched in 2011 to be a comprehensive and integrated program that contributes to the education and development of the personal skills of Bahraini youth. The program offers students the opportunity to attend an accredited university in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In addition, it offers many benefits, including training opportunities in the public and private sectors. The objectives of the Rayaat Scholarship Program is to enable students to achieve excellence and reach their aspirations, provide students with knowledge, skills and work ethic, to encourage students to excel by providing financial incentives based on achievement and to foster citizenship, loyalty and social responsibility towards the nation.
AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation aims to instill a sense of social responsibility among young people. It seeks to build a positive working partnership with ministries, government and private entities and businesses to provide training opportunities for the students of the scholarship program. These opportunities provide students with practical experience in both the public and private sectors, as well as integrating them into the workplace after graduation.
RCSI Bahrain was established by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin, and was officially opened in October 2004.
