A helping hand to youths – AlMubarrah AlKhalifia Foundation programmes aim to nurture the youth

The AlMubarrah AlKhalifia Foundation programmes offer youths an opportunity to be empowered abundantly and to use their skills to their fullest potential.The non-profit foundation was founded and launched by Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa in 2011 with an aim to nurture the youth.

The 4-year Youth Enrichment Programme is for children aged 14 and 15 from nine government schools in the Kingdom.

Head of Youth Programmes, Fatima Aljar told DT News, “We initially give students an evaluation test that includes scientific, oral and written assessment to evaluate which skills each student need to develop.”

The Youth Enrichment Programme is packed with events and activities for students to target their goal values. It includes training, workshops, field visits, camps and community services from February to April every Friday and Saturday of the year. Aljar added, “Our goal values are achieving team coordination, creativity, confidence, leadership skills, cultural exchange, handling pressure, flexibility, motivation, empathy and tolerance.”

Another programme Rayaat for students aged 18 and above encourages community services and grant funds for tuition fees. The programme is open for registration till May 15.

Omar Nabeel from Bahrain Polytechnic said, “I found out about this programme through social media in 2013. It truly benefitted me to be more involved in the community.”

He added, “By being a part of it, we also sometimes mentor students of the Youth Enrichment programme. Getting this chance is enriching enough for me.”

Another student, Abdulla Saif, said, “It is very much a win-win situation for we are all learning from each other. Learning to be a role model also means the younger students can benefit from our guidance. We give our word from the progress, many of these students will grow up to be leaders of Bahrain.”
