MKF Takes Part in the "GCC and Gulf Citizenship" Workshop

AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation took part, with a group of students enrolled in its scholarship programme, in the "GCC and Gulf Citizenship" workshop organised by the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the State of Kuwait on 10 and 11 September. The workshop was held in implementation of the resolution issued by the Supreme Council at its thirty-fourth session, held in Kuwait in December of last year, concerning care for young people, the refinement of their talents and the development of their capabilities. It aimed to identify the roles the Council can play in fulfilling the aspirations of young people and activating their role in the march of joint Gulf action.

The workshop covered several discussion themes, the most prominent of which was the theme of citizenship, explaining the concept of citizenship, Gulf citizenship and the core values associated with it; the theme of the Council's role in meeting the developmental needs of young people, such as the need for education, vocational training, employment and the development of personal skills, and how these needs can be met through the Council's framework; and a final theme on the participation of young people in decision-making centres and the mechanisms for activating such participation within the joint action of the Cooperation Council.

The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Shaikh Salman Al Hamoud Al Sabah, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
