During the opening of the GCC Council of Ministers of Social Affairs Meeting
Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation (MKF), was honoured as a leading figure in the field of civil society work across the Gulf. This recognition took place during the opening ceremony of the 12th GCC Council of Ministers of Social Affairs Meeting, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
HH was selected based on a nomination by the Ministry of Social Development, in light of her contributions to advancing civil society work, in addition to her efforts in establishing the role of MKF in serving the community through impactful initiatives focused on education, youth empowerment, and capacity building.
The ceremony also honoured MKF’s “Ithra” program as a pioneering social initiative implemented by a civil society organisation in the GCC. This acknowledgement highlights the program's role in providing opportunities that develop the skills and capabilities of Bahraini youth.
HH Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa expressed her pride on this occasion, affirming that her selection alongside the Ithra program reflects the vital role of civil society organisations in supporting the development process. She noted that this achievement embodies the collective efforts of the MKF team, its partners, and those who support its various works.
HH stated, "I take great pride in this honour, which recognises the journey of MKF, as well as the efforts of our team, partners and supporters. I am especially pleased that it coincides with the honouring of the Ithra program as a pioneering social initiative within the GCC region. We regard this honour as incentive to continue developing qualitative initiatives that invest in people and provide youth with genuine opportunities for learning, personal growth, and active participation in their communities."
HH added, "At MKF, we believe that sustainable social work begins with empowering individuals and building their capabilities. Hence, we are committed to developing programs that address the needs and aspirations of youth, broadening horizons for learning and the acquisition of skills and experiences. This honour serves as a driving force to continue our journey towards effecting sustainable social impact that moves beyond lone initiatives to create qualitative opportunities for future generations."
This recognition reflects MKF’s ongoing endeavours to develop programs aimed at empowering Bahraini youth and enhancing their community engagement by providing educational, training and skill development opportunities while promoting volunteerism and social responsibility.
Established in 2011, MKF has since continued to implement programs and initiatives in education, youth empowerment, and capacity building. These efforts aim to enhance the contribution of national talent to the development process and leave a positive, sustainable impact on society.
