MKF’s Rayaat Scholarship Launches “Meeting With Officials” Program

Manama, Bahrain, 19 February, 2017: Al Mabarrah Al Khalifia Foundation (MKF) scholarship program “Rayaat” organized a field visit for engineering students to the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) as an initiative poised to enhance the program’s offering.

The visit is the first of a series of visits aiming to give students the opportunity to meet executives and high-ranking officials from across the Kingdom’s different sectors. The visit aims to shed a light of the success stories of executives and challenges they have faced during their career. These visits aim to give students practical experiences facilitating their integration in the labor market.

The students were received at GPIC by Head of Training and Development, Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Bucheeri, who took them on a tour of the company’s many departments and gave them an overview of their different products.

Dr. Bucheeri discussed the challenges employees may face in the work environment, in addition to showcasing GPIC’s achievements locally and internationally. The meeting also included a Q&A sessions where students inquired about working in the company. The visit concluded with a lunch for the participating students.

Commenting on the visit H.H. Shaikha Zain bint Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Al Mabarrah Al Khalifia Foundation (MKF) said: “We extend our deepest thanks and appreciating to Gulf Petrochemical Company for organizing this visit which seeks to expand the students horizons and knowledge in regards to the work environment. We hope to engage with more companies from the public and private sector in order to further showcase their success to our students.”

The ‘Rayaat Scholarship’ was launched in 2011 as a comprehensive approach to promote educational achievement and personal development by providing students with scholarship opportunities at accredited universities in the Kingdom along with a series of career development opportunities such as internships in the public and private sectors. The program also instills other strong ethics such as social responsibility by encouraging students to volunteer in a supportive environment.
