AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation Marks International Literacy Day

AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation (MKF), through its Rayaat Scholarship Program, celebrated International Literacy Day for the first time on Tuesday (8 September 2015), under the sponsorship of Zain Telecommunications and in cooperation with the Saudi Bahraini Institute for the Blind, under the slogan "Knowledge for All".

As part of the event, a group of Rayaat students volunteered to carry out a range of activities with the Institute's students aged between 10 and 12. The activities combined recreational and educational elements, including colouring, identifying coins and reading stories.

To mark International Literacy Day, AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation will donate to the Saudi Bahraini Institute for the Blind a number of children's storybooks printed in Braille, along with a selection of educational games, so that all of the Institute's students may benefit from them in broadening their knowledge and cultural awareness across a variety of fields.

For her part, Samia Hussain, Communications and Public Relations Manager at Zain Bahrain, commented: "This event brings together a number of key elements of Zain Bahrain's community partnership plan. Education is one of the main pillars of our strategy, and we focus on building and developing the capabilities of all members of society, including people with special needs, by giving them equal opportunities to become active members of the community and to enjoy a bright future."

AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation praised Zain Bahrain for sponsoring the event and commended its ongoing efforts to support the blind and integrate them into society.

The Foundation also extended its thanks and appreciation to Abdulwahid AlKhayyat, Director of the Saudi Bahraini Institute for the Blind, for his role in developing the Institute's capabilities. The Institute works to prepare blind students from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the countries of the Arabian Gulf academically, educationally and culturally, and provides them with social, health and living care, in order to enable them to become active members of their communities, to contribute their abilities and energies to society and to enjoy a bright future.
