AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation Hosts a Webinar on “The Secrets of Independent Work”

Manama, Bahrain – 7 December, 2020: In line with its relentless endeavors to spread the culture of education and professional empowerment, AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation (MKF) hosted a webinar via Zoom entitled, “The Secrets of Independent Work” presented by entrepreneur Mr. Hazem Janahi. The event, held on Saturday 5th of December 2020, was attended by MKF members, local media representatives, as well as individuals who are keen on learning entrepreneurship and becoming independent professionals.

The webinar discussed a number of concepts that shed light on the importance of independent businesses in relation to the economy, highlighting that the total output of independent businesses around the world exceeded $1.4 trillion in 2018. Mr. Janahi also explained that individuals, who choose to become independent professionals, could increase their monthly income by a global average of BD 380. Moreover, he stated that if 10% of the local workforce entered the independent business industry, they would most likely be able to generate an annual income of $180 million over the duration of five years.

Mr. Hazem Janahi clarified that entering this field requires from individuals an ample amount of free time, passion, and the desire to increase their income. It also requires an effective utilization of their skills while harnessing a considerable amount of self-discipline.

Moreover, he also explained that while the Covid-19 pandemic forced the introduction of remote work across most sectors, a number of major global companies have in fact started adopting a remote working model on a permanent basis. Employers around the world resorted to mass layoffs in order to keep their businesses afloat and opted for freelancers in efforts to cut costs.

The webinar was concluded with a number of recommendations including; creating a national platform for independent businesses, adopting additional qualitative initiatives supported by civil, governmental, and semi-governmental institutions, and promoting a culture that nurtures skills attainment and helps in transforming such skills into passive sources of income.
