In line with the Foundation’s efforts to create community partnerships, AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation held a virtual meeting to launch scholarships offered in the name of the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, may God rest his soul.
The meeting was chaired by Her Highness Shaikha Zain bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation, with the participation of Professor Sameer Otoom, President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RSCI), Professor Julie Cross, Academic Vice President at the British University of Bahrain (BUB), Professor Abdulla Yusuf Abdulwajab Alhawaj, Managing Director of Al Ahlia university, and Dr. Raja Bucheery, Head of the Centre for Academic Studies at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). The meeting also witnessed the participation of representatives from Bangor University and the University of London, namely: Ms. Noor Al Zekri, Assistant Manager of the Academic Centre, Ms. Amal Sorani, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Ms. Sana Haji, Senior Business Development Manager, as well as members of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation including Mrs. Saba Seyadi, Executive Director, and Ms. Noora bin Hindi, Head of the Foundation’s Rayaat Scholarships Program.
Commenting on this partnership, Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation, said: “I would like to thank the participating universities for their cooperation and support of these initiatives, which are aimed towards empowering Bahraini youth and enhancing their chances of achieving their academic goals at the best educational institutions in the Kingdom through the Rayaat scholarship program. This initiative comes in commemoration of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, may God rest his soul, who was our supreme example of a figure who supported and served the citizens.”
Professor Sameer Otoom, President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RSCI), expressed his sincere joy on signing the agreement of the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa scholarships, and affirmed his aaspiration to continue developing and strengthening joint cooperations with the Foundation.
Professor Abdulla Alhawaj, Managing Director of Al Ahlia university, affirmed that the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, may God rest his soul, was a visionary leader who guided the people on the path forward and edified them in a multiplicity of capacities under the banner of his wise leadership. Professor Abdulla had also stated that the most important lesson learned from his late Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa was love and dedication the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people.
Dr. Raja Bucheery, Head of the Centre for Academic Studies at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), affirmed the Institute’s commitment to supporting the goals and visions of AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation, and indicated that these efforts come in line with the objectives of its academic programs. Dr. Raja expressed her pride in BIBF’s close relationship with the Foundation, and affirmed the Institute’s aspiration to participate in future initiatives with the Foundation in the coming years.
Professor Julie Cross, Academic Vice President at the British University of Bahrain, praised this initiative which offers a recognized learning experience with real world learning to students, with the aim of creating highly employable graduates. Professor Julie also mentioned that the university is looking forward to extending the opportunity to study at BUB to more talented young Bahraini students.
AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation recently concluded an agreement with Al Ahlia University to provide a number of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, may God rest his soul, in addition to offering reduced tuition fees for obtaining a bachelor’s degree, as part of this year’s Rayaat program. As part of the agreement, AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation still provides opportunities for individuals and companies to invest in Bahraini youth, by sponsoring students who wish to study at Al Ahlia University, and by supporting the Foundation’s new approach to providing scholarships in specializations that are highly sought after in the labor market. Al Ahlia University was the first private university that was established in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and has successfully graduated 14 groups of their students. The university’s professional programs are recognized by Bahrain’s Higher Educational Council, and the university is very keen in cooperating with international universities.
The Foundation started receiving applications for His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa scholarships from April 11, 2021. Applicants of the Rayaat program will be required to obtain an approval to join the selected universities before applying to the program. The application phase will continue for two full weeks during the period starting from April 11, 2021 to April 24, 2021. The selection process will be held under the program’s guidelines, on the basis of the applicant’s academic achievements, personal interview, an evaluation test, and volunteer work, as well as the applicant’s personal accomplishments.
The Rayaat Scholarship program was launched in 2011 as a comprehensive approach to promote educational achievement and personal development. The program provides scholarships for students to join an accredited university in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as offering many benefits including financial incentives, workshops and opportunities, while promoting a culture of ‘community responsibility” by instilling volunteerism and community service within a supportive environment.
